Taking trips to unknown territories can be equally exciting and nerve-raking. Here are a few tips for travelers to get the best out of your journey!
Research- To get the most of your trip familiarize with things like the culture, price index, language, areas and what makes this destination such a rarity.
Location, location, location- Getting the most if your trip can be a challenge when you’re fighting against the clock. Keep in mind generally it takes a minimum of 3-5 days to fully explore a city and location is everything! Having a more centered or close accommodation to the things you want to see can cut out lots of travel time and save you tons in transportation. Accommodations might cost a bit more for a better location but are well worth it.
Transportation- In many countries public transportation is easy to use and inexpensive. Be sure to look at all your options such as bikes, walking, bus, taxi and find what works the best for you.
Wifi- When traveling abroad reception can be spotty in certain countries, ranging anywhere from excellent to no service. To avoid hopping off a flight in another country and not knowing where to go because you have zero service invest in a portable wifi hotspot. In a pinch, some airports even rent them at a minimal charge per day and you just mail them back when done.
Less is more- Pack only what you realistically need and nothing more. Make your travel easy and light, leave room for keepsakes from your journey.
Stay Positive- Say YES! Be mindful and use common sense yes, but open your mind to seeing life from a different perspective, try something you never have before.
Be in the moment- Carpe Diem, Hanukah Matata and all thats in-between. We are in the digital age where everything is selfied, insta-ed, tweeted and snap-chatted. Take the time to see the beauty in a city, connect with someone, get up and dance to live music and admire art of a meal through your own eyes. Stop being a spectator in your own story and literally live every second of these moments.
Make a difference- Traveling is a blessing, make someone’s day, be kind, help those in need, learn, teach, explore, love, just be.
“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.” – Mahatma Gandhi
